Hello! My name is Vladimir and I'm a student who wishes to participate in the GnuCash development within the Google Summer of Code 2011 project. I participate GSoC first time, so that the letter may be too little or too much information. I chose this project because I use it daily since first of November 2010. I like GnuCash alot and it really helps me track my costs, thank you guys. Also a few friends began using it after me. But sometimes I notice that there is room to expand and improve. From my personal point of view it could be at least: 1) Charts with custom date range 2) Charts for accounts and subaccounts across time 3) Schedule of costs forecast vs budget 4) Information from accounts and subaccounts is very good looking when seen on screen, but if I print it out, the result not such good looking. I would like to fix it, too.
Also I saw list from http://gnucash.uservoice.com/forums/101223-feature-request and I agree that most of things from the list can be done to make GnuCash better. When reading http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GSoC2011 page I was pretty wondered that there is Cutecash project. A few weeks ago I started to learn Qt framework and I very excited about Qt's potential and would like to try myself in Cutecash. A few words about me: my main skill is math, cryptography, programming languages (mostly C, C++ and less Java, Ada), networks and writing cross-platform code and very good in centralized and distributed VCSs. Best of all I hope I can join the project to do Cutecash development or at least to add new features to current GnuCash codebase or do other tasks that main developers would assign to me. Please, let me know if I could fit as GSoC 2011 student.
