1. HAVE SEVERAL NEUTRAL TOP LEVEL ACCOUNTS In a GnuCash Window, we can only create top level accounts of a given type: one of the 5 basis types, given into 12 sub-types (Bank, Cash, Asset...): it is impossible to create a neutral top level. But a "neutral" top level account already exists: the gnucash file.
What I would like to have, it is to have several neutral top level accounts. Advantages: - a better structure for them; by example: one tree for your personal accounts, one tree for your professional accounts, one for your wife or husband, one for your children; - they can have the option to be balanced between them or to do not! By now, of course, this can be done using different files opened in different gnucash applications, together or one after one: it is harder to use! 2. OPEN SEVERAL ACCOUNTING FILES TOGETHER This comes after and with the question 1. - option to handle several neutral top level accounts together in the same file, or separated in different files! 3. GIVE AN EXTENSION IN THE FILE NAME OF GNUCASH Under linux ubuntu and gnome, a click on the gnucash file open it in the firefox internet explorer, as an XML document! And it is an XML document! (And File Roller 2.2.23 do not handle compressed gnucash file: Ok it is not the problem of the gnucash team, but...) - it should be better that a click on a gnucash file, compressed or not opens it in gnucash instead! - Which extension to give ? for uncompressed: ".cash" ? ".gch" ? for compressed: ".cgz" ? ".gchz" ? 4. THE FOLDER OF THE GNUCASH FILES LOOK LIKE A TRASH CAN! When I open the folder of the gnucash files, a lot of files appear in it! - What about store all this files in a subfolder beginning with a dot (point) and the name of the saved file ? Example: all the file for the file "mygnucashfile" will be store in ".mygnucashfile". 5. GIVE THE ABILITY TO EASY CREATE AND IMPORT REPORTS - Without knowledge of scheme programming: create the report in another format (XML ?), translated in scheme by gnucash. Is it possible ? I hate parenthesis! 6. ENHANCE THE BUSINESS MENU Over all, the Customers pages... Hard to understand and handle! Opinion ? This is probably a lot of questions, a lot of work and a lot of time... Roma has not been made in one day!
