At this point, feedback is great. This should be on gnucash-devel, not gnucash-user, though because it is for an upcoming release, not released software.
Save-As will save to either an sqlite db or xml file. If the file already exists, it will save in that format. Otherwise, any newly created file will be an sqlite file. I plan to allow the user to select format in the near future. So, if you want to save an sqlite file contents as xml, you need to save over an existing xml file. Perhaps make a copy of your current file and then save over that.
