The plan seems fine, and I think we should give it a try and muck with the needed stuff outside of src/optional/python-bindings in ParIT's private repo for awhile until this is ready. In fact, if as you suggest there are changes needed outside of src/optional/python-bindings that will make GnuCash's SWIG interface files more flexible, generic, and useful to our use case, perhaps you and I should send in a patch with just that and only that first. > that file.
