Your second paragraph answers the first one: No, no second translation has to be invented. The string "Profit & Loss" will simply appear untranslated as long as the translation hasn't been updated. Yes, this is a new string. Just go ahead and... oh, wait, unfortunately there is a risk here: If we back-port this and ship the string untranslated in, say, 2.2.4, but then the translator translates it for 2.2.5, then this will break the saved and opened reports... uh oh. Ok, for that reason I'd say we do *not* back-port this particular string. Sorry for that.
