I recently had a problem pop up on my gentoo linux system. I have eliminated glib-1.x and gtk+-1.x from my system confgiuration. As a result, I cannot emerge gnucash-2.x (not sure about 1.x but I suspect the same issue applies). This is due to gentoo not having a version of g-wrap higher than 1.3.4 available which requires glib-1.x. The question I have is this. When the folks at gentoo make g-wrap 1.9.6 available (which will allow glib 2.x), will an installed version of gnucash (either 1.x or 2.x) have to be recompiled?
