but in all cases this simply means that r14588 introduced functions that do not exist in older versions of gtk2. In my case the function gtk_tree_row_reference_get_model() explicitly states it has been introduced in gtk-2.8, see http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/GtkTreeModel.html#gtk-tree-row-reference-get-model and suse9.3 has gtk2-2.6.4. Do we want to remove the deprecated widgets out of trunk? If yes, then I guess r14588 means we have to increase the required gtk version number to at least 2.8.0, and then various distributions that used to be supported will of course be no longer supported (including suse9.3, FC3, FC4, and others, see README.dependencies).
