Peter,

I did know that Debian specifically patched libtool for this behavior and
posted the rationale for it. I assumed that upstream will also apply this
patch sooner or later. Does this mean upstream does not agree that this
behavior is beneficial. This is probably not the right list for this
question, but since the context is here, a quick answer will be of
help. Thanks.
