We might want to consider either using SunRPC (ONC-RPC) or CORBA,
although I'd want to make sure that any RPCs we had we batched
single-calls instead of one-RPC-per-request ;) Writing client-server
code is relatively easy, and I can volunteer to do so (provided I have
help designing the client and server stub APIs)
