Not heretical at all.  I thought we'd discussed this in the past and
were just waiting for the release we just had.  After that, I think I
had proposed that we just create a new branch in CVS, make it the main
branch, and drop motif support there.

I'd probably be okay with that.  I haven't investigated in depth, but
last time I looked it seemed useful, no longer tied to any gui, and
extremely portable.
