Perl loop in compiling

I am attempting to compile the latest CVS snapshot, and get a continuous
loop like this with anything related to perl:

-stat -perl5 -I.. -I../../../src/engine -o gnucash-engine-perl5_wrap.c
gnucash.engine.i

I am running Mandrake 7.0 developer.
