The only problem I've had with the current CVS on FreeBSD 3.4 
is in configure.in:
      ${MAKE-make} -f Makefile.config.finish)
doesn't seem to set ${MAKE-make} to gmake. I haven't had a chance
to see what the problem is, but maually making the change fixes it.

using make instead of gmake for this line is also the cause of
Linus Nilsson's problem:

>make: don't know how to make =. Stop

Which is a symptom of using make instead of gmake.

I also have the problem of configure not finding nana.h, but I've
just commented out the check
