The "slib not quite installed right" problem seems to be a *seriously*
frequently asked question.  It's getting rather irritating that people
are asking about this one *continually.*

Would there be some reasonable way of checking things at runtime, and
spitting out a meaningful message?   e.g. - a dialog box that says:
   "Problem found with SLIB installation.   Please consult
    /usr/local/doc/slib-installation or
    <http://www.gnucash.org/slib-installation.html>"
as well as spitting this out to stdout.
