----Message d'origine----- De: Dave Peticolas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> A: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 31/12/99 Objet: i18n Hi all, I have Laurent's patch to switch GnuCash over to using GNU gettext for i18n of strings. Currently, we use our own include files for i18n, and this is a bit awkward for adding new strings. Ideally, a developer should be able to add a new string in the default language, and then this string is used in lieu of a translated string in other languages until someone else comes along and translates it. This allows other people to do translation independent of the coding work. The result is that a lot of the new gnome code doesn't use i18n at all. Laurent's patch, as I understand it, keeps the centralized message databases (as opposed to the _ and N_ macros often used in gnome programs), but separates coding and translation using the gettext utilities. Any objections to applying this patch? It includes code for gettext, but we could leave that out and add that as a required library. thoughts? dave -- Gnucash Developer's List To unsubscribe send empty email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Gnucash Developer's List To unsubscribe send empty email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
