Hello . . .

I am attempting to compile gnucash (1.2.5) and find myself in the
embarrassing position of being trounced by widgets. I am running
Slackware 7 (glibc-based), and my GNOME, perl, etc. seem to be up to
date. In the install process, ./configure works fine. However, make
yields the following error:

In file included from /usr/include/XmHTML/XmHTML.h:183,
                 from HelpWindow.c:48:
/usr/include/gtk-xmhtml/HTML.h:240: parse error before `*'
/usr/include/gtk-xmhtml/HTML.h:240: parse error before `String'
/usr/include/gtk-xmhtml/HTML.h:240: `TPointer' declared as function
returning a function

and a whole load of errors resulting from the use of the TPointer
typedef throughout the file. I thought perhaps my gtk-xmhtml was old,
so I checked the current copy at gnome.org, and I have the current
revision. I tried to work around it by dowloading and installing
XmHTML, but for whatever reason, the current distribution (1.1.7) does
not seem to come with a src directory, and I can't get it to compile as
a result.

Adding insult to injury, xacc (1.0.18) will not compile for me because
of incompatibility with the current version of Xbae.

Can anyone suggest a cause for this error, or (even better)
documentation relating to it? Any questions relating to the situation
may be directed to me at this email address . . .

bye----
ymca
