What if we didn't switch modes, but let the user decide to just
blow away all the splits except the 'transaction' split. You would
end up with just the transaction with an empty 'transfer from'
field. If you wanted to add one split, you would just fill in
that field and you've got a balanced, 2-split transaction.

If you want more splits, then just go into multi-line mode.
I think this is as intuitive, smoother, of course, *so* much
easier to implement :)
