I would like to propose using the standard gtk file selection
dialog, instead of gtkfilesel2 in the current sources. I realize
that gtkfilesel2 has some additional functionality. However:
1. I know for a fact that gtkfilesel2 has some bugs. The current
directory displayed is often wrong.
2. The "single click moves through directories" works very differently
than the standard file selection dialog which most, if not all,
other gnome programs use and which users are therefore used to.
3. The above problems could be fixed, but we shouldn't be doing that.
A file selection dialog is supposed to be one of the standard
components, maintained by the gtk/gnome people. gtkfilesel2 adds
about 3000 lines of code that has nothing to do with core GnuCash
functionality.
4. I believe the gnome people are working on a new file box that has
the features of gtkfilesel2.
What do you think?
