-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I also came across the no-save problem with gnucash 1.2.3 as packaged
in Debian potato (unstable). I downloaded the CVS source and built
it, same exact problem. It looks like the function fileBox (as called
by gncFileOpen in src/FileDialog.c) always returns NULL. I've
notified the Debian maintainer of gnucash (Tyson Dowd
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>), but he hasn't gotten a chance to track it down
yet; however, I suspect it is a problem with lesstif 0.89.0.

A workaround I used for this problem is to use the xacc-smotif Debian
package to create a file, and then give gnucash its filename on the
command line. You could probably do the same by copying one of the
examples. Not elegant, but it works.

I hope this helps someone track down the problem!
