This message is just for the archive. I forgot to CC the list in my last message to Guille.
No. Warty uses a modified X-free Version 4.3 . It is not capable of running a composite-extension. Wait for Ubuntu-Hoary which will be released in April. It contains X.org's X. If you can't wait you can download a beta version. (I don't have the link at hand, google for "Ubuntu Hoary download".) Be prepared for a few minor issues. I would not recommend to try an upgrade from Warty to Hoary. I did so this weekend and ended with something not fish and not bones. Do a new install if you can and update via net. Then do apt-get install xcompmgr transset and you should have all you need.
