I count three separate threads to the mailing list in which you've asked
this; perhaps you are not getting responses immediately because your
setting for this mailing list is for (say) a daily digest rather than
receiving emails as they are sent?

The answer is, yes, such an extension most probably *can* be created (GNOME
Javascript, what extensions are written in, has some support for dbus; as
long as LibreOffice has a DBus API to support whatever actions you wish to
perform, this is achievable).

So, if you really wanted to, you could. However, why would you make this a
gnome-shell extension as opposed to (say) simply a python application, or
even a standalone GNOME Javascript application (could be run with the `gjs`
binary)? Is there any reason it needs to be tied to the shell? Does it need
any shell-specific capabilities? If not, then writing it as a standalone
script/application would at least mean non gnome-shell people could use it
too.
