I'm new to the list, so I guess I could introduce myself. My name is Jason and I've been an avid Ubuntu user since Dapper Drake. Professionally, I am a Microsoft Web developer doing contract work. At night, however, I have been tinkering with Linux programming for a few years. After a hiatus from Ubuntu after the release of Gnome 3 (I wasn't an early adopter), I have recently started toying with ideas for extending Gnome 3.
So now for the reason of this post. I've got an idea about a shutdown option, but after downloading the Gnome-shell source, I immediately realized that I'm not prepared to create an HTML5/Javascript extension. Would anyone here have any advice for me? If I could simply make a recommendation, then that would be enough for me to know that someone else might be able to make an extension that addresses my idea into a reality.. ~JNS
