Feedback is appreciated. We're sorry to hear you miss the categories
from 3.6 and earlier.

Unfortunately, the mailing list isn't the most productive way of getting
changes. You can file bugs on bugzilla.gnome.org for your wish to purge
entries, and other tings. Apart from that, you can help get involved in
building GNOME https://www.gnome.org/get-involved/

Threatening to switch to a different DE will get you nowhere though. You
are, as always free to go.
