Entering 't a a bt' after the crash didn't do anything (no output). However this is with the in-built gjs. Are you suggesting I download the gjs source (git) (and associated latest svn version of gobject introspection an also install xulrunner-dev from apt) to further test? How do I make sure that all the versions are the same as the current ones that I am using that are breaking gnome-shell?
