You need to install cups. Did you use gnome-shell-build-setup.sh like said in http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell#building ?
That should have given you something to paste into your command line that would have installed cups. If it did, and it didn't fix that, can you please paste what the script spat out, if you still have it?
