I also don't think that the Calendar is at the center by _default_, it needs to be relocated. There is a waste of space on the top panel, so the move of the classic "File, Edit, View menu at the top" is logical.

The application name is already in the top panel, so there's no need to re-print it there. The max-min-close buttons could maybe go on the right side, maybe before/after the user/status menu (I forget what the official name for it is) or the system indicator. That said, the top panel would have to blend in to the window, maybe with a gradient, for it to look natural. Any thoughts/concerns?
