You are right. In 1937, all Erzya linguists were executed on charges of
separatism. Since then, there is officially only the Cyrillic alphabet.
Now there are two informal Alphabet - phonetic and simple with the added
letters for compatibility. The second almost copies Estonian extended
alphabet. We plan to use a simple alphabet and cyrillic.
