Merging back vendor translations is a good idea, until it is not completely automatical. Sending the updated translations and/or patches [in this case, after merging the new translation with current po file in SVN, in order to reduce the noise made by changed comment lines] to coordinators or to bugzilla would be IMHO the appreciated way.
