As promised, I've just committed nice big comments for all of the translatable strings in db-format.xml.in. I also put a little bit more stuff in the manual. There are portions of the manual that translators should read. The comments point to those sections, as well as provide a quick synopsis of the usage of the string.
Basically, translators need to read the translation overview, and they may have to read the full documentation entry for a few templates the first few times they do them. I suspect, though, that once you get into the swing of things, the comments on the strings will be enough. The comments talk about seeing URIs like ghelp:gnome-doc-xslt#translating. If you build your local checkout of gnome-doc-utils, this manual is in doc/xslt/C. (Note that you have to build the checkout for the docs to exist.) You can just do this: yelp gnome-doc-utils/doc/xslt/C/gnome-doc-xslt.xml If you don't understand something, ask. Chances are somebody else has the same question, so ask on the list. I'll try my best to clear things up, and then I'll update the documentation so that everybody benefits. -- Shaun _______________________________________________ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n
