Do you know why they don't contact us when they have concerns? What memory usage numbers are bothering them? I do know that brltty's memory usage does look artificially high because of the way thread stacks are allocated. Perhaps this is what's misleading them. The default is to give a thread quite a large stack, even if very little of it is used. If only a bit of it is used, however, only that bit of memory is actually allocated so it isn't really a problem. In spite of that, though, we did give the API a stacksize= parameter so that the size can be forcibly reduced from the default. >I have been thinking about this myself, and have a few ideas to make >this work better, which will very likely see the light of day in edgy+1. What are they? Let's put them on the table and discuss tghem. I give the same invitation to the Ubuntu people themselves. >Henrik, it might be an idea to extend your howto to give info about how >to get Braille up and running with orca. I will discuss this with you >next time I see you on IRC. I still maintain that a user shouldn't have to do it for himself. I don't think a sighted user would settle for a system which made him have to find some difficult-to-locate icon in order to turn his monitor on, especially after he had to first log in while it's still off. -- Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | I believe that the Bible is the Phone: 1-613-726-0014 | Ottawa, Ontario | Word of God.
