We're experiencing this, too, *keeping us from becoming a customer.*  And 
seeing

*about 9 threads of about 14 users reporting this problem,* it is seeming a 
possible serious bug with GitLab or GitLab.com implementation. *Moreover, 
almost none of those threads I see responded to by GitLab staff*, 
suggesting they aren't around to get users help even for critical & 
hopefully simple issues as this, which is naturally worrisome. I see only one 
thread where GitLab staff replied seeming to offer real help

that was only a temporary fix of doing it manually, and was over 2 years 
ago.

In our case, we used email address ..f...@mi.dre.. where ‘..’ is redacting 
due to this forum being public but still enough, along with the date & time 
in this paragraph, so the GitLab.com admin can find our the request in 
their web logs & figure out what's going on & fix it. We then clicked ‘Sign 
up’ (sending to https://gitlab.com/users/almost_there) at ‘20160714(Thu)1917’ 
PST. But got no confirmation email, yes including searching all incoming 
mail folders. So we used  https://www.express222.com/email_test.php to test 
if this address was currently receiving email: it was no problem. So we did 
https://gitlab.com/users/confirmation/new 2x, once with the exact email 
address and then again with it in all lower case. Yet still nothing sent to 
that email address.

Don't know if this applies to us, but one user kindly reports carefully 
diagnosing 1 GitLab coding bug causing this

still, even after all that work, no reply there from GitLab staff.

*We would be & need to be using your services already, so please address & 
fix *(probably starting by by creating if-not-there and reporting here the 
issue URL)*, including tell what all possible workarounds if the fix will 
take long.*
