No, as you stated omnibus packages started with 6.6. You'd have to:

1) update to 5.1
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/blob/master/doc/update/5.0-to-5.1.md
2) update to 6.0
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/blob/master/doc/update/5.1-to-6.0.md
3) update to 7.14
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/blob/master/doc/update/6.x-or-7.x-to-7.14.md
4) switch to omnibus
