The key setting options is: #gitlab_rails['smtp_user_name'] = "" Commented out!#gitlab_rails['smtp_password'] = "" Commented out!gitlab_rails['smtp_authentication'] = false If I don't comment out the smtp_user_name + smtp_password, it will trigger/enable the authentication.
