I'm having a hard time figuring out when I should expect email
notifications to be sent when adding a comment to a commit. I found the
notification documentation here:

http://doc.gitlab.com/ce/workflow/notifications.html

I haven't tweaked the notification settings in my account, so I'm at global
notification level "participating", and all my groups set to "Global". (I
have nothing under "Projects".) I make a commit to a group project. (again,
the group notifications for this group are set to "global") From another
account, I make a comment on my commit, but I do not receive an email. If I
reply, the author of the first comment gets an email notification of my
reply. If he replies, I now do receive an email.

I also get an email if I am specifically @ryan mentioned in the initial
comment. It does seem to be that the email on the commit matches the email
on my account. Am I misunderstanding the meaning of "participating", or
should my being the author of the commit count as participation.
