PEKRF created an issue (geany/geany#4265) I'm using the Windows version of Geany v. 2.0.
For various reasons, I wanted to open files in ANSI mode (non-Unicode). So I chose the following in "Edit - > Preferences" : > Default encoding (new files): Without encoding (None) > Use fixed encoding when opening non-Unicode files: Checked > Default encoding (existing non-Unicode files): Without encoding (None) See attached screenshot. It seems to work, but Geany still shows: > "encoding: UTF-8" in the status bar.
