I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to modify syntax highlighting, was just curious if it is very complex to make modifications?
I would like to try modifying a couple different languages syntax but just for an example for this post, I would like to focus on XML syntax. By default it appears that Geany uses a bold blue text for the tags and regular black text for data. I will just list out some items I am interested in playing around with if anyone knows about any of them. -How to change the color of fonts for specific items, in this case a color for the tags and one for the data -How to change the formatting for example bold, italic, etc. of tags and also a separate setting for data. -In other programs, I have seen that you can change the background color behind the tags themselves, (puts a color rectangle behind them) does anyone know if this is possible? Not just for tags but can this be done for any specified text? -Not important but was just curious, probably not but can you use a different font for the tags and a different font for the data -How to change the commenting out font color / formatting? I have seen that you can modify the commenting out symbols in the `filetypes.xml.conf` file but this file is not for the syntax highlighting itself. XML is a rather simple language as far as highlighting, hopefully what is learned with this can be applied to more complex languages that contain a lot more highlighting.
