Hello To move the selection you have to "accept" it first, this is done by pressing the enter key once your selection is done.
After that you have two choices. To move the selection (or more precisely it's contents) hold alt+control and drag the selection. To copy the selection use alt+shift. Note that this is all done with the selection tool, there is no need to change to the move tool.
