Somewhere in my travails with color management under gimp 2.4 I got the impression that, under some circumstances, gimp embeds a profile in an output file. But the only circumstance in which that seems to happen is when I have an embedded profile in the input file (as is the case if I get the file from vuescan which I use to scan.)
