This works for some filters, but not for the curve/bend.  Because each layer
needs to bend
as a unit consolidated with the whole, but the repeat function bends each
layer in a way
that doesn't blend with the whole.
Now I'm thinking, I wonder whether your suggestion might have worked, it I
had made each
layer the same size and situated each layer with that outcome in mind.
