Thanks, but not really. (kerning means the different space needed between A - V, and V - V; it depends on the used font, but fonts sometimes (always) have erroneus kernings)
There is a main difference of importance between spacing and kerning: without optional spacing your work can have professional look, but without manual kerning the work will be wrong at typographics surely, so it is impossible to work with fonts in gimp in this way. I can't emphasize it's importance enough.
