Who created that preview? The GIMP file open dialog only shows the thumbnail, it doesn't necessarily create it also.

There are some problems with the librsvg and Debian sid just after the upgrade of gtk+ to 2.4 2 days ago. It is needed to get librsvg from "experimental" to have the svg icons of the desktop themes displayed. Maybe it is related ?
