I note that the gimp manual sez that Gimp will do CMYK separations, but 
advises using Photoshop instead for this purpose. I wonder if someone could
define for me the actual deficiencies found if one creates cmyk separations in
Gimp and then sends them to the printer, for e.g. a cover for a book. 

Are photos the only problem?
