*Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies -- Dickinson College*



Dickinson College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant
Professor position in our Environmental Studies Department, commencing July
1, 2018.  The successful candidate will approach environmental challenges
from an interdisciplinary perspective and will use active pedagogy to
engage students in the field of environmental studies. The candidate will
teach a total of five classes during the year including Environmental &
Social Justice, Environment & Society, Environmental Policy, an upper level
in their area of expertise, and one repetition. The ability to create
inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body
will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate. Applicants
should possess a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies or a related social science
field, such as Political Science, Policy Studies, Geography, Anthropology
or Sociology, although advanced ABD standing may be considered.



Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year, independent liberal arts
college with 2,300 students.  It is located in South Central Pennsylvania
twenty miles west of Harrisburg and a two-hour drive from Baltimore,
Washington DC and Philadelphia. Dickinson has a national reputation for
leadership in global and sustainability education. The Environmental
Studies Department is one of the oldest and most broadly established small
college programs in the nation, offering a wealth of research and
co-curricular opportunities, including the Alliance for Aquatic Resource
Monitoring, the Dickinson College Organic Farm, and the Center for
Sustainability Education. The Department maintains strong relationships
with the Food Studies and Health Studies Certificate programs.
