The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future <http://www.bu.edu/pardee> at Boston University invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow appointment starting in January 2015. This position will play a lead role in conducting a comparative analysis of large-scale systems for energy security in developing countries.
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, substantive broad knowledge of energy policy, and strong interest and ability to analyze longer-range policy options in developing country contexts. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will join a community of scholars who conduct highly collaborative interdisciplinary, policy-relevant, and future-oriented research that contributes to longer-term improvements to the human condition.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with faculty and students from across Boston University and elsewhere, practitioners, and policy experts to research specific case studies of past and current energy transitions in developing countries. This research will result in publications exploring the economic, societal, environmental, and public health impacts of various energy systems, with specific analyses of tradeoffs resulting from particular policy directions.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in collaborative research and the ability to synthesize contributions from colleagues with expertise in various disciplines into a rigorous analysis resulting in a coherent scholarly product.
Applications are welcome from recent recipients of the Ph.D. or equivalent degrees. In special circumstances applications from advanced ABD doctoral candidates may also be considered. The postdoctoral fellowship is a full-time position for up to 12 months. The successful candidates will be expected to work at the Pardee Center for the entirety of his/her appointment.
