Subject: NEW Oxford DPhil (PhD) in Sustainable Urban Development with

Dear colleagues,

*with apologies for cross posting*

The University of Oxford is delighted to announce the launch of a new
part-time DPhil (PhD) in Sustainable Urban Development
<http://www.conted.ox.ac.uk/DSUD> . We would be grateful if list members
would share this information with students, colleagues and associates for
whom it will be of interest.

The DPhil is a research doctorate, which culminates in a substantive
academic thesis and performance in a viva voce. Successful candidates will
have a very strong academic record and will show great aptitude through
their academic proposal. Throughout their period of study, candidates will
join a wider international community of students, tutors, researchers and
practitioners engaged with Sustainable Urban Development.

The DPhil operates in conjunction with the flagship part-time MSc in
Sustainable Urban Development <http://www.conted.ox.ac.uk/msud> , delivered
in partnership with the Prince's Foundation for Building Community and
recognised under the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors University
Partnership.

Potential DPhil research topics include, but are not limited to:

*       Governing urbanization;
*       Citizenship and livelihoods;
*       Energy;
*       Law, housing and human rights;
*       Urban environments and development;
*       Culture, urbanism and migration;
* Immigration and sustainable urbanisation (economic and social
impacts);
*       Urban mobilities (including transport);
*       Human resource management and organisational performance;
*       Science, technology and the environment;
*       Material repair in cities, scientific expertise and urban politics;
*       Education and gentrification.

Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America, and Southern Europe.

The Oxford-Prince's Foundation Graduate Scholarship

Applications are invited for a fully-funded scholarship available at Kellogg
College for the DPhil in Sustainable Urban Development. This funding has
been set up with the aim of researching the economic impact, broadly
defined, of the Coed Darcy oil refinery conversion project and the
associated Swansea University Campus development located close to Neath Port
Talbot in South Wales. This scholarship is made possible by a generous
donation from the Prince's Foundation and the support of the University.
