Subject: Re: innovative panels and working group opportunities for sections for
ISA 2012

Dear Section Program Chairs and Section Chairs,

Innovative Panels and Working Groups are two ISA-sponsored opportunities that
we wish to call your attention to for the ISA 2012 in San Diego. Innovative
Panels typically consist of short panel presentations and audience discussions
about a particularly timely or controversial subject with a moderator to
facilitate the dialogue. At past conventions, innovative panels have included
town halls, debates, simulations, or panels that require unique technical
support or room set-up. For a detailed list of innovative panels at past ISA
Conventions, please see the following link
http://www.isanet.org/meetings/specialty-panel-archive.html. The deadline for
innovative panel proposals for the 2010 ISA Convention is May 15, 2011. Those
interested in proposing an Innovative Panel need to submit the INNOVATIVE PANEL
PROPOSAL FORM<http://www.isanet.org/annual_convention/ip-proposal-form.html> by
this date.

Working Groups provide a forum for 20-25 participants to meet on several
occasions throughout the conference around a particular substantive area.
Several sections have led Working Groups at past ISA conventions, including
ALIAS, HR, ES, FTGS, IPS, and Diplomatic Studies. Results from a recent survey
conducted by ISA Hdqs.suggest high participant satisfaction with Working
Groups. To see further details about Working Groups, please visit
http://www.isanet.org/annual_convention/specialty.html#wg.The deadline for
working group proposals for the 2012 ISA Convention is June 16, 2011. Those
interested in proposing a Working Group need to submit the WORKING GROUP
PROPOSAL FORM<http://www.isanet.org/annual_convention/wg-proposal-form.html> by
this date.

We are pleased to share these opportunities with you to help further develop
your section and provide a richer professional and personal experience for our
members. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to discuss these opportunities
further or develop ideas for the coming year.

Best,
Andrea & Brittany
