Dear friends I write on a brief informational note and with a small request.
First, as some of you know recently a new international organization for renewable energy (IRENA) was formed. What fewer might realize that it has been mired in scandal and mismanagement and has just undergone a leadership change merely 16 months into its existence. I just wrote an op-ed on the agency and the challenges it faces and thought some on this list who work on energy or on governance issues would find it interesting: http://triplecrisis.com/renewing-irena/ Second, and more importantly, 10 years ago I along with students in my advanced graduate class had conducted a survey on expert perception of the Rio Earth Summit. Right before Johannesburg we had published the results of the survey in the journal 'Environment'. Now, ten years later, students in the same class are doing a follow-up expert survey asking experts what they now think of Rio, of Johannesburg and what hopes they have for Rio+20... Some of you had kindly taken the original survey. This time it is even shorter (takes just 10 minutes). May I please request you to take the survey ..... As before, we intend to compiles and publish the results prior to Rio+20... Survey details and the survey itself is available here: http://people.bu.edu/sc232/rio2012/index.html Regards Adil Najam ------------------------- ADIL NAJAM The Frederick S.
