MapLayerTable doesn't work properly since the new Layer classes have been
introduced in the render module. Some of the recent fixes to the Layer classes
on trunk (e.g. event firing) seem to have helped. Will try to fix the rest of
the problems on trunk and then discuss back-porting all recent changes
(associated with GEOT-3563) to the 2.7.x branch.
