GeoTiff file handles not released when running with large heap
--------------------------------------------------------------
Key: GEOT-3591
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3591
Project: GeoTools
Issue Type: Bug
Components: gc geotiff
Affects Versions: 2.7.1
Environment: ubuntu 10.04
tomcat 6.0.24 (installed via package manager)
java 1.6.0_24
JAVA_OPTS ="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms1024m -Xmx2048m -Xrs
-XX:PerfDataSamplingInterval=500 -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"
Reporter: Justin Deoliveira
Assignee: Andrea Aime
Attachments: jmeter.zip, poll.sh
The attached jmeter plan executes GetMap requests agianst a single tiff layer,
medford_dem.tiff (layer = medford:elevation). The full data dir is available
here:
http://echobase.opengeo.org/~jdeolive/data_dir.tgz
If it is too big I can pear it down more.
The poll.sh script simply does an lsof to count the number of open medford_dem
files. Within a minute or so the open file count approaches the os max for open
files per process (in this case 1024).
