After a couple weeks of delays, the release of GeoTools 2.5.7 is
available for download:

This release contain a number of bug fixes and
* ArcSDE improvements including version support, non-spatial tables
and better performance.
* Fixes to filter condition evaluation.
* General stability and performance improvements to JDBC-NG datastore.
