Hi Andreas,

The release schedule is maintained here: https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/Release-Schedule. The expected date for GeoServer 2.17.1 was May 18th, 2020.

There have been discussions on the GeoTools Devel and GeoServer Devel lists about some last minute PRs being merged, etc.  That is to say that the release is happening.

Overall, the team that brings release does a fair bit of the work as a volunteer / side-work effort.  That volunteer community is awesome, and has also worked very hard recently to move Maven repos and re-establish complex CI/CD workflows which keeps GeoTools, GeoWebCache, and GeoServer running on Java 8 and Java 11!

I mention that to provide some context about why a release may not happen exactly on a given date.  The good news is that the Open Source heroes are working in the background on the next great thing.

Cheers,

Jim
